The uproar recently over Facebook and their desire to share your information makes me instantly ask many questions of the value of social media.  Technology offers a glimpse into the world we are creating.  For writers the best advice seems to focus on building a consistent theme of who you are as a writer; a website dedicated to your writing and a writing blog which is current, professional and relevant.  The golden rule is to remember everything you put online stays there so it’s important to stay true to who you want to be.  I’m leery of any social media that will make my personal information public.  Recently, the Penguin Group announced they were launching a website for genre writers.  Book Country offers writers an opportunity to share their work in a secure manner which seems like a positive direction for the monster known as social media.  LA Carlson
